Making steady progress - as you can see the underside is nearing completion and is almost ready for treatment. The areas completed are coated in a zinc based primer to protect the exposed metal. Read on....

nice shiny underbelly!

Before continuing with the work underneath we had to make sure the panel alignment was true so we positioned the panels to check the gaps and fit ... pleased to report perfect!

Back onto the floorpan, we have mentally sectioned off the floorpan into 4 areas as the whole thing is to big to treat in one sitting.

First we work over the floorpan removing the original sealant and grime. Then we treat and prime any rust, but there isn't much rust to treat as most of the floorpan is new including the main floorpan sections some chassis legs and the inner and outer sills.

The treatment begins with zinc primer then we apply seam sealer to any of the joints or joins, we have tried to replicate the original ford way of doing this to give the correct finish. This is left to cure and shrink then the final coat of sealer is applied, this is sprayed on with a gun to give it that just left the factory finish. Then when the whole floor is treated we will be spraying white along with the inner arches and baked before starting on the rest of the shell.

We thought about just spraying the metal but it is just not practical unless it is never going to be used. as the metal would be exposed by and stones tossed up by the wheels.

The finish up close
