This is our first restoration it's also probably the hardest one we could choose - but we picked the S1 as it's now becoming rare and the series one is respected by everyone from boy racers to classic car enthusiasts.

Beginning to strip the escort ... very carefully!

With the interior and easy bits removed we start on the harder stuff ... bye bye doors and kit.

It's more or less a shell but still needs the greasy bits removing ... running gear and engine.

The restoration process starts with nothing in the way we start to replace rotten panels with new.

The car is turned on its side to allow access to chassis, this is the slow progress period.

The Chassis is ready for treatment and painting

Finally after an eternity the chassis is finished with treatment and paint - its really starting to look amazing!

The Interior also gets the treatment while exterior and some of the exterior panels are primed.

With the chassis in paint we ant the exterior primed the final coats of diamond white are applied - now we have a "better than new" shell ready for the rebuild.

Rebuild time ... time to get the wallet out again as we replace any component which isn't as new. Suspension first to go.

Brakes - It's all about the brakes - or lack of them, the brakes on a series one were always weak. How to fix this? - Cosworth brakes on all four corners.
